Washington Hackathon 2025 Set to Ignite Innovation in AI for Health and Climate

Alexandria, VA – May 26, 2025 — The Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Washington Hackathon 2025 on May 24–25, 2025. Organized in collaboration with the Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS), this global virtual hackathon promises to bring together bright minds from academia, industry, and the tech community to innovate solutions in the fields of healthcare and climate sustainability.

With the theme “Hack for Impact”, the event will focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to address real-world problems. Participants will choose from ten specialized tracks, including Medical Diagnostics & Imaging, Health Data Security, Hospital Automation, Climate Prediction, Renewable Energy, and AI for Disaster Management. These tracks are designed to encourage practical, scalable solutions for the most pressing challenges faced globally.

The hackathon will also feature keynote sessions from industry leaders at Google, Amazon Web Services, PayPal, and Walmart, and offer mentorship from renowned professionals and academics. A total prize pool of $1,750 will be awarded to the top-performing teams. Adding prestige to the event is an impressive panel of judges drawn from leading universities and top-tier tech companies. Esteemed judges include Prof. Mohammad Shorif Uddin (Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh), Prof. Touhid Bhuiyan and Dr. Amalisha Sabie-Aridi from WUST, Dr. Mark Robinson (Director, School of Business Administration, WUST), Mr. Abdul Hadi (Climatec, A Bosch Company), Mr. Rajesh Goyal (IBM), Mrs. Nivedita Rahul (Accenture LLP), Mr. Rahul Kumar Konduru (FedEx Dataworks), Mr. Rajesh Sura (Amazon), Mr. FNU Pawan Kumar (Walmart), and Mr. Sai Krishna Reddy Mudhiganti (Samsung Semiconductor), among many other distinguished professionals from Walmart, Cisco, Deutsche Bank, FedEx, Cognizant, Smartsheet, Equifax, and ZF Active Safety.

Students and professionals from renowned institutions like the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, and Christ University are expected to participate, alongside industry representatives from major tech firms including IBM, Accenture, and Bosch.

The Washington Hackathon 2025 is part of WUST’s broader commitment to innovation, global collaboration, and responsible tech development. The university’s recent partnerships, including its MoU with Colombia’s CCAP, reinforce its mission to create international platforms for impactful research and innovation.
