Ethical Considerations and Guidelines for Large Language Models (LLMs)

27 Jan 2025 | 1 year ago | Author: Saurabh A. Pahune |

To use Large Language Models (LLMs) in an ethical way, we need to think about important things like bias, data privacy, openness, and the impact on the environment. To reduce bias, organizations should use a variety of datasets, check model outputs on a frequent basis, and use fairness metrics. To protect data privacy, you need to use strong encryption, and anonymization methods, and follow rules like GDPR and HIPAA.

To make things more clear, LLM methods should use AI techniques that can be explained and clearly list what they can and can't do. LLMs can also leave less of an impact on the environment by improving teaching methods and using transfer learning. To make sure responsible use even more, good governance systems and stakeholder participation, like training business teams and holding workshops, are also important. Organizations can get the most out of LLMs while protecting trust, fairness, and sustainability by putting these ethical values first.
