With an acceptance rate of about 10%, the 8th International Conference on Communication and Intelligent Systems (ICCIS 2026) stood out as one of the more selective research gatherings of the season. Held on September 26–27, 2026, and technically sponsored by the Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS), the two-day conference drew academicians, researchers, industry professionals and students to share new work in intelligent computing, communication technologies, data analytics and related disciplines.

A total of 1,892 papers were submitted from Albania, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Germany, India, Libya, Nepal, Oman, Peru, Serbia, Taiwan, Ukraine, the United States and Vietnam. A panel of 510 reviewers evaluated the submissions, and 186 papers were finally accepted and registered. These papers are set to be published in Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems (LNNS), Springer’s Scopus-indexed book series.

Proceedings began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. In his welcome address, General Chair Prof. Hemant Rathore set out the conference’s goals and academic scope. Chief Guest Shri Kabir K. Shirgaonkar, Director (IT), Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Government of Goa, spoke next, followed by Guest of Honour Prof. Meenal Kowshik, Dean Administration, BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus. Prof. Sandeep Kumar of CHRIST University, Bengaluru, then gave an overview of the Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) and its work in promoting research.

Two plenary lectures marked the inaugural session, delivered by Dr. Modi Chirag Navinchandra, Associate Professor at NIT Goa, and Prof. Sandeep Kumar, Professor at CHRIST University, Bengaluru. Industry perspectives were strongly represented in the keynote line-up, which featured Atul Thapliyal, Senior Managing Consultant – GenAI Strategy and Implementation at IBM Consulting; Abhradeep Chatterjee, Associate Director at NTT DATA Services, USA; Utpal Das, Senior IT Technical Lead at KnitWell Group, Columbus, Ohio, USA; and Srinivas Sandiri, Principal Security Architect in Financial Services. Prof. Yelleti Vivek of the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi, Dr. Dibya Jyoti Bora, Dean of the School of Computing Sciences, Dr. Ritesh Vyas, Assistant Professor at BITS Pilani, and Anshul Chetal, Associate Partner and IBM Global Alliance Leader at EY, also addressed the delegates.

A series of invited talks brought practical, real-world experience into the academic discussion, covering software architecture, engineering, financial technology and applied research. Speakers in this segment included Manjeera Chanda, Senior MuleSoft Architect at GoodRx; Rang Ganesh Singh Alampur, Engineering Leader at a major financial firm and Independent Researcher; Srinath Rajure, Lead Mechanical Engineer at Stertil ALM Corporation; Vaidheyar Raman Balasubramanian, Senior Manager/Architect at Capgemini; Bhanuprakash Basani, Independent Speaker; Veera Ravindra Divi, Senior Software Engineer at Amazon; Rajashekar Reddy Gujjula, Senior Systems Engineer at Fresenius Kabi, USA; Renjith Ramachandran, Senior Solutions Architect and Independent Researcher; and Balasubramanian Bava Jagannathan, Independent Researcher.

Accepted papers were presented in five technical tracks: Communication and Control Systems; Emerging Techniques; Informatics and Applications; Intelligent Data Analytics and Computing; and Intelligent Systems: Algorithms and Applications. Among the session chairs who moderated the presentations and steered the discussions were Naga Hemanth Badabagni, Resident Solution Architect; Shubham Patel, Staff Software Engineer at Vestmark Inc.; Poli Reddy Basani of SAP America Inc.; and Vivekanand Raikar, Enterprise Transformation and DevOps Expert.

By combining a strict review process, a diverse international participant base and a strong mix of academic and industry speakers, ICCIS 2026 offered a valuable meeting ground for researchers and practitioners working in communication and intelligent systems. With its proceedings headed for Springer’s Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems series, the research presented at the conference is set to reach a wide international readership and inform future work in the field.
